STORIES OF LA FLORIDA
La Florida, welcome to "STORIES OF LA FLORIDA" — a new virtual space for sharing the Historical, Cultural, Social, and Environmental Heritage of the district of La Florida. The heritage that has been lost over the years with the growing urbanization that threatens to destroy La Florida's true identity — the identity that in recent years has turned it into the "Dormitory District" or the "District of Buildings," while the agricultural past and social struggle through which the district was formed hide behind every slab of concrete. We also seek to recover the Precordillera identity of a district now recognized for its Natural Heritage as the home of the city's last native forests.
We aim through this Instagram and Facebook to critically present that historical heritage and share La Florida's stories in a decolonizing way — learning over time who the people were whose names fill our streets, and what is the heritage truly valued by the territory's communities versus the supposed heritage that others try to impose on us.
Welcome, then, to getting to know the Stories of La Florida in a different way.
