Grateful to the Alto Florida Emergency Brigade!
Their mission is to protect the lives, forests, and surroundings of the commune of La Florida, as well as to provide first response to possible accidents and deliver first aid to those in need. It must be noted that they are not firefighters — they are an emergency brigade for protection and first intervention. They operate on a volunteer system; all the materials and tools they use come from donations from our neighbors.
We had the pleasure of meeting them and visiting their temporary headquarters, located a few meters from the entrance to Panul. We established a mutual outreach agreement, as the brigade will begin operating from Monday the 15th of this month and needs as many people as possible to be aware of their actions, including a recruitment process.
"We need the support of the community and for them to recognize our work, to value everything we do and what other social organizations do," were the words of Senior Brigadier Carlos Calderón.
