Let's Defend El Panul at the Municipal Council
Dear friends,
Our forest continues to be threatened by real estate interests and by the lack of commitment from our authorities. This is why we will present ourselves before the Municipal Council at the regular session on Wednesday, May 4, to demand the support and commitment they owe us regarding the protection of Panul and the rejection of the preliminary project that seeks to build housing in that area.
In addition to rejecting the preliminary project, concrete measures must be taken involving the protection of La Florida's precordillera in its entirety.
We demand:
– That the Municipal Zoning Plan be amended through a sectional plan, in order to fulfill the commitment made by the Municipal Council.
– The conduct of a natural risk study in the area. Studies already exist that demonstrate it is dangerous (for example: the Environmentally Sustainable Territorial Planning Program of the Metropolitan Region OTAS, developed by various public bodies, including the SEREMI of Housing).
– A freeze on construction permits until the true risks of any project on the Andean piedmont are known.
