Centro Educacional La Florida receives a guided tour of Bosque Panul
On Friday April 28, Bosque Panul was visited by children from Centro Educacional La Florida, located in the municipality of La Florida, who along with guides from Red por la Defensa de la Precordillera had the opportunity to get to know this last native lung in Santiago's urban area.
On Friday April 28, Bosque Panul was visited by children from Centro Educacional La Florida, located in the municipality of La Florida, who along with guides from Red por la Defensa de la Precordillera had the opportunity to get to know this last native lung in Santiago's urban area.
For the second consecutive year, children from Centro Educacional La Florida visited Panul to discover this wonderful and unique place made up of sclerophyllous forest — getting to know this ecosystem that has taken thousands of years to adapt to the conditions of our dry Maipo River basin.
The meeting between the 65 children from the school and the guides was set for 9:30 in the morning, to walk through and experience the gifts of the forest during the peaceful morning hours. In order not to impact the species, this large group was divided into two — an action that demonstrates to the students the importance of fighting to conserve these kinds of ecosystems, their benefits, and the protection they provide, including: containing landslides, absorbing rainwater, purifying the air (smog), and many others.
These walks are a systematization of the knowledge that the forest and the mountain provide, and allow us to strengthen the environmental education we are giving our children today.
We thank Centro Educacional La Florida for once again choosing El Panul as a place of learning and development, where the experience the students live remains engraved not only in their notebooks, but in their lives.
