Press release on the installation of the gate at the entrance to Panul
Given the significant deterioration that Bosque Panul has suffered in recent years, due mainly to the unregulated use of this fragile ecosystem, organizations responsible for its care and protection — including the Brigada de Emergencias Alto Florida, the Red por la Defensa de la Precordillera, Conciencia Panul, and the Neighborhood Councils of the Precordillera of La Florida — decided to build a gate that is being installed this weekend.
Given the significant deterioration that Bosque Panul has suffered in recent years, due mainly to the unregulated use of this fragile ecosystem, organizations responsible for its care and protection — including the Brigada de Emergencias Alto Florida, the Red por la Defensa de la Precordillera, Conciencia Panul, and the Neighborhood Councils of the Precordillera of La Florida — decided to build a gate that is being installed this weekend. The main benefits of this measure include:
- Regulating nighttime access, reducing the danger of forest fires and ecosystem deterioration caused by mass events
- Sending a signal to national, regional, and municipal authorities who for more than 10 years have provided no concrete solution for the protection of Bosque Panul.
- Creating a Public Park in the area, regulating hours and uses, as is done in all parks aimed at ecosystem conservation.
An assembly will be called soon to evaluate the impact of this measure together with the entire community. This meeting will be open, and it is hoped that all those interested in the protection of Panul will be able to attend. The date and time will be communicated through the social media channels of Red Precordillera and the Brigada de Emergencias Alto Florida.
