For the second consecutive time, vote suspended for lack of quorum
So far, no councilmember from the Nueva Mayoría has been willing to provide a quorum to vote on and approve Carter's poor proposal, pending a response from Intendant Orrego.
La Florida's mayor Rodolfo Carter once again suspended the extraordinary municipal council session in which he intended to hold a second vote on Amendment No. 9 to the Municipal Zoning Plan — an amendment previously rejected for failing to create a park in Panul and for allowing its urbanization.
So far, no councilmember from the Nueva Mayoría has been willing to provide a quorum to vote on and approve Carter's poor proposal, pending a response from Intendant Orrego.
Let us recall that both the mayor and the Intendant have the power to create a park in Panul by declaring it an area of natural value. Given the mayor's refusal, the community formally requested that the Intendant create an intermunicipal park in Panul through the Santiago Metropolitan Zoning Plan, thereby achieving an institutional resolution to the conflict.
In the face of a lack of political will, protecting Bosque Panul now depends on us more than ever.
