Real estate company Gesterra submits project to urbanize Bosque Panul
The company's proposal seeks to subdivide the iconic native forest in order to build roads and other works that will destroy the ecosystem, thereby attempting to pressure for approval of its massive real estate development. The political responsibility for this massacre will fall on the current mayor of La Florida and candidate Rodolfo Carter, who lied in 2015 when he assured that his new Zoning Plan had saved Bosque Panul.
Inmobiliaria Gesterra submitted, in January of this year, a subdivision project for Bosque Panul. This will allow it to begin urbanization works, such as roads, public lighting, and sewage systems in the middle of the native forest, thanks to the current Zoning Plan governing the municipality, a situation that was reported at the time.

Indeed, Mayor Rodolfo Carter managed to get his Zoning Plan approved in 2015 (with the support of former council members Marco Espinoza (DC) and Nicanor Herrera (PS)), which, while restricting residential use in part of the forest, allowed various urbanization works and destruction of the ecosystem, since it did not create a public park on the site.
This was harshly criticized at the time by the community organization Red Precordillera, which the mayor branded as liars, and as wanting to create a false political enemy in order to exist.
Finally, the truth came to light, as the company's own workers confirmed that a project was submitted to urbanize the forest, confirming the community's suspicions, which began when test pits (soil surveys), street markings, and machinery (excavators) that "improved" and opened roads inside the forest appeared.

The community has requested this information from the municipality through various transparency channels, but the municipality has inexcusably delayed the matter until after next month's elections.
Now the only solution to save Bosque Panul is for the municipality and Rodolfo Carter to reject the submitted project, and promptly change the Zoning Plan to create a public green area throughout the entire forest.
The community is preparing a fierce defense, and will not allow Panul to be felled.
