Real estate company Enaco logs native forest in Fundo Panul

This situation allowed the real estate and construction company Enaco (project "Cumbres de la Viña") to log 1,335 m² of native forest last week — including trees, shrubs, herbs, and forest soil belonging to Bosque Panul — in order to build homes, front gardens, and roadways there.

This was made possible thanks to the high-density zones that the Municipal Zoning Plan maintained and expanded within Fundo Panul.
This destruction of native forest is easily verifiable: just go to the end of the street beneath the Pablo Apóstol school and look toward the city.
All of this could worsen, especially since the current Road Plan of the Municipality of La Florida envisages the construction of Av. Rojas Magallanes, Av. Central, and other streets within Panul.

The community defending the forest has for years been demanding its real protection — which will only be possible by creating a green area or park within it, not through "band-aid" measures. To achieve this, the Municipal or Metropolitan Zoning Plan and the Road Plan must be modified, which will enable the expropriation of the forest.
For its part, the Michelle Bachelet government has been working for months on a modification to the Metropolitan Zoning Plan for the area. The community hopes that a public park will be created covering the ENTIRE Bosque Panul, from the 700-meter contour up to the high summits. After a decade of struggle, any other measure will be insufficient.
