New defeat for the owners of Panul: court rejected appeal against the community
Some months ago, the Navarrete Rolando family sued organizations and individuals linked to the defense of Panul, seeking to ban their entry into the forest in order to contaminate and damage it with impunity. Once again, the defenders of Panul have been vindicated and this complaint has been rejected.
Some months ago, the Navarrete Rolando family sued organizations and individuals linked to the defense of Panul, seeking to ban their entry into the forest in order to contaminate and damage it with impunity.
Neighbors were monitoring the removal of approximately 3,000 tonnes of industrial waste that a company owned by the landowners, Gelymar (Oxiquim), had dumped in the middle of the native forest.
This company was sanctioned by an environmental court and ordered to remove the waste, having operated without the necessary permits and evaded the system, following a complaint filed by the community.
It was then that the Navarrete Rolando family filed a complaint before the Santiago Court of Appeals against individuals and social organizations linked to the defense of Panul, seeking to ban their entry into the property while the community monitored the removal of the waste and the serious damage to the ecosystem being caused by Gelymar.
The court rejected the complaint, as the legal path chosen by the Navarrete family did not allow the community to defend itself. Thus, the owners of Panul once again see their attempts to intimidate the forest's defenders frustrated.

The community will continue protecting the ecosystem and monitoring any damage that unscrupulous companies may attempt to cause.
