On weekends we find Bosque Panul full of athletes (mostly cyclists) and families sharing wonderful moments. However, Panul is more than just a recreational space — it has played an important role in the natural protection of its neighbors, as demonstrated by the case of landslides, one of the causes of which is high-rise urban development leading to deforestation and soil compaction.

Many people say they don't like the capital, but perhaps what's missing is a visit to incredible places like Panul, the last native forest spanning around 340 hectares.

Puerto Montt Court of Appeals accepts protection writs and issues stay order for HidroAysén

The Puerto Montt Court of Appeals is currently resolving three protection writs declared admissible, after judges of the Coyhaique Court of Appeals disqualified themselves. The information comes from the Judiciary's website, in the context of serious corruption allegations against the public bodies responsible for the administrative decision in the Aysén region.

FRIENDS: As many of you know, the SEREMI of Housing sent its ultimatum this past Monday, June 6, demanding that the Municipality APPROVE THE REAL ESTATE PRELIMINARY PROJECT FOR FUNDO EL PANUL. The SEREMI wants to impose its position — even against the rejection of all the authorities and social organizations in the district. Its threat is that, if the preliminary project is not approved, it will file a complaint against the municipality with the Comptroller.

Government prepares to remove protected status from Lauca National Park

Eight months ago, President Sebastián Piñera announced that the option of removing protected status from between 5% and 15% of the surface area of Lauca National Park — located in the Arica and Parinacota Region — would be analyzed in order to develop mining activity, which would generate investments of close to US$2 billion.
